Opal is a symbol of hope and purity. This stone were to believe that it have been fallen to the earth by a lightening. Opal comes in unique multicolor of blue, black, and gray. Due to the variety of colors of the stone opal, rumors say and believe that it is the reason for the mysterious colors of the sky.
There are different types of opals such as black, white, crystal, and a fire opal. The most treasured opal is the black opal. The black opal has flashes of different colors. The white opal has a light background. A crystal opal has a colorless background and show variety of colors. Last, a fire opal is fairly transparent, but its background colors may have brown, yellow, red or orange.

The hardness of opal ranges from 5.5 to 6.5 on the Moh¡¯s scale. It was first found in Australia in1863. Mines at White Cliffs began producing in 1890. Small quantity of precious opal is produced in Brazil. Fire opals are produced in the United States, Mexico, and Oregon.
