 During the 1990 in Bienne, Switzerland there were two young watchmakers that wanted to create timepieces with outstanding beauty, craftsmanship and movement. They created the precious metals and gems to produce the first “private label” luxury watches in 1915. Concord watches were once used as the official gift of U.S Presidents to Heads-of-State and have become the timepiece to mark life’s momentous occasions.

In 1995, after five years of research and development, a mechanical self-winding Ebel Caliber 137 was created. Created, assembled and designed in the workshops this chronograph movement signifies sophistication and precise technology. Ebel’s design-engineers worked creatively, in parallel, the 360 parts required to power each of the various functions: hours, minutes, chronograph seconds, date display, as well as 60 second, 30-minute and 12 hour counters. So instead of “bolting” a chronograph on an automatic movement which will result a movement too thick for aesthetic satisfaction. The recognized masterpiece in its overall structural design it reflects perfection of pioneering technical resolutions. All Caliber 137 movements are submitted to the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) and they are all duly chronometer-certified an award exclusively to extremely high-precision movements. The architects of time dedicate many long hours of careful hand craftsmanship to the inventive finish with beautification of the movement, which can be viewed through the sapphire case-back.

In 2005, celebration the 10th anniversary of its proprietary Caliber 137, Ebel launched an automatic chronograph movement named Caliber 139. Inspired by the conviction that architecture is based not only on aesthetics, but also on a continuous mission for brilliant technical craftsmanship in the service of mechanical functionality; the architects of time have created a new manner of displaying chronograph function. The fact that the regular counters on automatic chronographs were too small for fast and accurate legibility of the elapsed time. Ebel watch-makers worked on a new design of the chronograph display functions to achieve highly reliable Ebel caliber 137.
