Suunto |
| Suunto
was founded in 1936 when Tuomas Vohlonen invented the liquid-filled compass. Which were essential to finish troops in the WWII and because of that it would be the direction that Suunto would follow over the next 70 years. Today Suunto is the largest manufacturer of compasses and precision instruments that are used all around the world for the most accurate measurement especially in areas such as forestry, mining and surveying. |
| By the 60s the divers had figured out that strapping a compass onto your wrist underwater would give u your direction, but if you were in the watch you would need to be able to operate in three dimensions. So in the 70s Suunto developed their first diving instruments would calculate depth as well as give direction. When the computers were introduced in the 80s the new digital world allowed Suunto to create their first dive computers. These devices were able to calculate water pressure, temperature and then gave information how to carry out a safe dive. |

In the 90s Suunto came out of the water and start creating instruments that would give you information on your altitude, weather change, temperature as well as direction, this instrument is called Suunto Vector. As a decade passed the heart rate information became available and this would be the first time a cyclist or a hiker could tell what was happening in his body in the environment he was in. thanks to Suunto hikers, mountain bikers, soldiers and many others can check their pulse and know what is going on with his/her body. |

| Suunto launched a new watch Suunto n3 in 2004 which provides information directly from your wrist, it has features such as view your appointments, receive messages and new flashes, know the exact time wherever you are with automatic time zone adjustment. Suunto t6 is coming out in spring and will tell you how fit you are, help you plan your training and how much benefits u get out of it. Tuomas Vohlonen would never have been able to imagine where technology was heading, but he understood one fundamental thing that is as true today as it was in 1936. It is always important to know where you are going.
