Advice For Planning A Memorable 2013 Spring Wedding
02/13/2013

Planning for a spring wedding can be a very exciting and emotional experience. Not only are you lucky enough be able to exchange vows with someone you love very deeply, but you also have the added benefit of planning a beautiful and memorable spring-themed wedding. If you want your wedding celebration to be the talk of the town then you need to make sure that you pay close attention to important spring wedding trends for dresses, cakes, jewelry, and favors. To make sure your wedding is everything you dreamed it would be, consider following this advice for planning for a spring wedding in 2013.

Wedding Dress Trends

  • Portrait backs
  • Lace
  • Peplums
  • Color
  • Convertible gowns

If you want to turn heads on your wedding day and impress the groom and your guests, look for a wedding dress that incorporates some of the above characteristics.

Cake Trends

When you are planning for a wedding in spring, don’t underestimate the importance of choosing the perfect cake. To make sure your cake looks trendy instead of old-fashioned, look for one that has some of the following characteristics that are trending in 2013:

  • Hand-made edible flowers
  • Different layers, arranged with pillars or stairs
  • Cute dots or intricate scroll designs
  • Unique flavors such as grape, orange, espresso, or raspberry

The goal is to choose a cake that is trendy, eye-catching, and absolutely unforgettable.

Jewelry Trends

While you want to choose jewelry that will complement your dress and draw attention to your features, you don’t want to choose jewelry that is too overbearing and steals the focus away from your face and dress. For this year's spring wedding, keep the following jewelry considerations in mind:

  • Pearls
  • Hair jewelry
  • Modest chandelier earrings (not the oversized versions of 2011)
  • Yellow gold and yellow stones such as rutilated quartz and beryl
  • Tangerine-hued jewels like fire opal and citrine
  • Mint-colored jewelry, hair pieces, and dress accents

Ask your photographer to find creative ways to photograph your jewelry and gorgeous wedding bands with the beauty of your theme and spring around. Adding a touch of color to your jewelry will add warmth and depth to your wedding attire.

Wedding Favor Trends

Remember that your guests expect interesting and delicious wedding favors. Popular trending wedding favors for 2013 include the following:

  • Chocolate mint cupcakes
  • Chocolate dipped bite-sized “bird egg” candies
  • Marshmallow favors
  • Anything mint-colored

If you follow the advice above, you will be on your way to planning a memorable and romantic spring wedding that will be sure to impress your guests this year.

Tips on Creating a Halloween Wedding
10/30/2012

Planning your wedding can be stressful, but it should also be an opportunity to show your personal and creative side.  Many people are embracing themed weddings and one of these is having a Halloween wedding.  A Halloween wedding can be an elegant event if it is planned and executed correctly.  Inspired by Halloween wedding videos (such as the one below), here are some tips to get your wedding into the spooky holiday spirit.

It Begins With the Song

The wedding party entrance, whether it be at the ceremony and/or the reception, sets the mood of the wedding.  So start your entrance with monster-related songs such as "Thriller," "Monster Mash," "Bad Romance," or a Rocky Horror Picture Show song.  Coordinate your bridal party to do a zombie dance as they walk down the aisle or into the reception hall along with the song.  Besides at the entrances, play Halloween-themed songs throughout the party.  Depending on your theme, fun or dramatic, play haunting soundtracks from Phantom of the Opera, The Blob, Monster Mash, and The Adams Family, and other monster flicks during dinner and pop dance songs.

Nothing says Halloween more than purple, blue, orange, or red lighting.  You can achieve this look with candles, tea lights, spot lights, uplights, and even colored Christmas lights.  For example, make sure that each table has candles already dripping set in vintage candelabras or old wine bottles.  If you have an outdoor garden, outline the trees in blue, purple, and orange with fake spider web stringing the branches.  Place lit carved pumpkins along the aisle and pathways to guide your guests to the reception area.

Crystalize

Add some glitter and glam to your Halloween wedding with crystals.  If you are going for a spooky but fun theme, you can purchase those skulls that are encrusted with crystals, choosing a specific color or going with simple silver.  Sprinkle small quartz chips around your centerpieces to catch the light from the candles.

Get Everyone Into the Spirit

Wear diamond cut gold jewelry or silver jewelry that sparkle under the light in Halloween shapes such as bats, pumpkins, or ghosts.  If you want to wear a more fashionable style, choose vintage-style rings and jewelry, resembling Count Dracula's era.  Also, put your wedding guests in the Halloween spirit by inviting them to wear costumes to your reception.  Pick a specific theme (such as a haunted castle, The Nightmare Before Christmas, or Sleepy Hollow), or leave it up to your guests to choose.  Hold costume contests and award prizes to encourage your guests to participate.

Have 'em Trick or Treat

Halloween just isn’t Halloween without candy, especially chocolate, and you can create all kinds of centerpieces with chocolate and candy corn.  You can have your guests "trick or treat" when get to the reception door and give them a favor bag full of candy or create different stations where your guests can go to and trick or treat for candy.  Fill a glass pumpkin with chocolate eyeballs or put small jack-o-lanterns filled with Halloween treats decorated with black or purple silk ribbon as wedding favors at the table.

As you can see, there are so many fun and spooking things that you can do to create a spectacular and memorable Halloween wedding.  Just think, what can your guests, see, smell, taste, and experience that will remind them of Halloween as they celebrate the most important thing -- your matrimony.

Finding Wedding Fashion Inspiration From the 2012 Emmys
09/21/2012

Television buffs and fashionistas throughout the world look forward to the Emmys. TV stars carefully choose their attire from the hottest and most expensive designers. This single event is one of the best showcases for the top trends in formal attire, lending inspiration to celebrations, proms, weddings, and other formal events for the rest of the year. While planning a wedding, one of the best ways to get inspiration is to watch the stars. Celebrities that appear in the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 23 will be showcasing many of the season’s hottest trends. By using these simple tips, people can find inspiration from this year's Emmy Awards and incorporate it into their up-coming weddings.

Look For Patterns

At the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards 2011, actress Sophia Vergara and boyfriend Nick Loeb. Photo taken from accidentalpaparazzi, http://www.flickr.com/photos/accidentalpaparazzi/7355039048/Of course there will always be actresses and actors who insist on marching to the beat of their own drums and wearing styles that are so unique that they may never be replicated – Lady Gaga, for example.  Many of them use award ceremonies to show off their refined senses of style and taste. While looking for wedding fashion inspiration during this awards ceremony, don’t expect to see anyone wearing traditional wedding dresses, of course. Rather, look at the styles of dresses that the stars are wearing to find out the up-coming fashion trends and get ideas for your wedding dress or bridesmaid dresses.

Take note of the dresses that you like the most.  What does the silhouette (i.e. A-line, empire, fit and flare) of the dress look like?  What jewelry are they using to accent their attire? Are they accessorizing with a lot of bling or are their choices more conservative and understated? What are the most popular fabric, hairdos, and makeup colors?

Choose a Favorite

It is hard to watch the Emmys without picking a favorite actress, performance, and even dress. As you watch, take note of your favorite fashion and event designs, especially if you are thinking about having a glamorous wedding. Take time to go back and look at pictures of the stars even after watching the show. Read blog reviews of the 2012 Emmy attire. Then, choose your favorites and stick them onto your wedding boards. They can provide inspiration for your entire wedding theme or style.

Incorporating Celebrity Style

You may be surprised to find out how affordable it is to incorporate celebrity style into your wedding. One of the easiest ways to get a great deal on jewelry, dresses, and accessories inspired by the 2012 Emmys is to shop online. Online retailers are often able to sell their products at incredibly reasonable prices so that you don’t have to spend a fortune on some of the most beautiful and fashionable celebrity-inspired features of your wedding.

When it comes to planning your wedding, take some tips from the pros by watching the Emmys for style and jewelry inspiration.

Show Off Your Symbols Of Eternal Love In A Creative Wedding Ring Photo Shoot
09/12/2012

As a jeweler specializing in wedding ring jewelry, we love seeing artistic shots of couple's wedding bands.  Wedding photographers are becoming more creative when it comes to showing off the bride and groom’s rings.  The ring is a symbol of eternal love and is considered one of the most important elements of a wedding celebration.  If you are looking for ways to show off your ring(s), here are some great ideas.

Using nature

Pair of wedding rings

What could be more romantic than using nature as your inspiration for setting off a set of wedding rings?  These photographers use petals, flowers, leaves, and even fruit as a backdrop to create a photo that is worthy of an art gallery.

As you can see in this picture, taken by Mauro Cateb, the delicateness of the wedding bands is emphasized by their placement along the roses' steams, and the green color makes the yellow gold stand out in a nice contrast.

The written word

What could be more powerful to emphasize the meaning of your rings than with written words?  This picture by Roger McLassus sends a message of love using the dictionary, which was appropriately opened to the definition of love, as the background for this photo.  You can use any meaningful text, such as a romantic poem, spiritual book, sonnets, handwritten love letter, to create this shot.

Other cute and unique concepts

When it comes to showcasing rings, the sky is the limit.  Check out these unique and fun ideas.

Two left hands forming a heart shape

Leon Brocard's lovely display features the couple's left hands forming a heart while showing off their traditional wedding bands.

Nucleation rings

Setting wedding bands in a carbonated drink of choice make this set really sparkle, as you can see in Melamed Katz' photo.

We hope these ideas inspire you to come up with creative ways to show off your wedding bands in your wedding album.

Top Wedding Trends For Fall 2012
09/06/2012

From wedding dresses to matching wedding bands, from cakes to decorations, the new fall 2012 wedding trends will make an upcoming wedding the event to remember. Planning a wedding can be extremely time consuming and require extensive organization. Thankfully, social networking sites, magazines, and other resources provide numerous ideas that a bride can use to make her wedding one of a kind.

Colors

In the past, colors and decorations for a fall wedding were often limited to warm tones such as reds, browns, and oranges. Now brides are using any color from shimmery gold or silver, to neon pink and green. More than ever before, wedding parties are being encouraged to incorporate their own personality into their wedding plan. Rather than being limited by traditional perceptions of wedding themes and décor, brides and grooms take advantage of the opportunity to share their interests and passions with the friends and family that attend.

With a vast array of new materials and tools for decorating and designing, wedding cakes have gone from being all white, to being colorful creations that embody the theme of the wedding.

In jewelry, fall 2012 wedding trends feature originality and beauty. There are many different varieties of men’s wedding bands that are popular. Yellow gold is making a huge comeback. It is very popular to choose wedding bands that coordinate with the bride’s ring. If the bride has a yellow gold ring, the groom will as well.

In women’s wedding jewelry, uniquely cut diamonds are very popular. In addition to wedding rings, brides can wear other jewelry that brings out the details of their dress or that goes along with the colors and theme of the wedding.

Decorations

When it comes to decorating for a wedding, there are limitless options. Fall 2012 wedding trends include a lot of intricate details. Lace is making a comeback and is being seen in wedding dresses, tablecloths, bouquets, and throughout the décor. Another trend that is popular is do-it-yourself decorations. More and more brides are taking an active role in making their own centerpieces and wedding favors. Rather than choosing traditional colors, decorations and gifts, couples are incorporating tributes to their own hobbies and interests.

Originality is at its height in wedding planning and decorations. By using beautifully intricate decorations, unexpected venues such as barns and other types of venues are being transformed into elegant and intriguing settings for a romantic evening.

For those planning their upcoming wedding, fall 2012 wedding trends allow them to be more creative than ever before. Bright, bold, beautiful colors are at the height of fashion. Wedding bands and rings are designed to fit the unique tastes of the couple. Incorporating personality into a wedding is at the height of fashion.
